Welcome to my site!!

I am Ramón y Cajal Fellow in Social Sciences at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (Spain). I hold a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute with a thesis focused on anti-austerity mobilisations in Southern Europe. My work received the Juan Linz Best Dissertation Award in Political Science and won the International Sociological Association’s Worldwide Competition for Junior Sociologists in 2018. Between 2016 and 2020, I was a Research Fellow at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence (Italy), where I am still affiliated with COSMOS (The Centre on Social Movement Studies), and after that I was a CONEX-Plus Marie Curie Fellow at UC3M (2020-2022).

I am conducting research on (young people’s) political participation, social movements, inequalities and nationalism. My academic articles appeared in international peer-reviewed journals, including Acta PoliticaAmerican Behavioral Scientist; European Societies; Government & Opposition; Information, Communication & Society; International Journal of Public Opinion Research; International Political Science Review; Mobilization; Politics; Regional Studies; Social Movement Studies; Sociology; Territory, Politics, Governance, and West European Politics. With Donatella della Porta et al., I am co-author of the monographs Social Movements and Referendums from Below: Direct Democracy in the Neoliberal Crisis (Policy Press/ Bristol University Press, 2017) and Resisting the backlash: Street protest in Italy (Routledge, 2022). My first single-authored book is Grievances and Public Protests. Political Mobilisation in Spain in the Age of Austerity (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021).
